Sarah Jayne Ludwig

I was born and raised  just outside of Rochester NY.  My love for art began in high school where I give credit to my art teachers for giving me the encouragement that I needed to improve in my artistic abilities. After high school I continued my education at the State University of New York, College at Buffalo where I received a degree in Art Education and a graduate degree in Educational Technology. In the spring of 2006 I was approved for tenure as a teacher in Medina, New York when I made the  decision to leave my job and home and move someplace where the winters were not so cold. That summer I moved to the peninsula of Hampton Roads in Virginia where I taught for Newport News Public Schools. During this time  I also met my husband who was in the United States NAVY.  In the spring of 2012 I moved a few miles south to Norfolk to continue my life with him and also pursue my own career as an artist. After focusing on creating my art business and working as a graphic designer  I decided that my love for creating art wasn't sustainable without my passion for teaching. In 2014 I returned to teaching for Norfolk Public Schools. In 2018 I moved back to my husbands hometown in Southeastern, PA. Currently I am a mom, a teacher at local private schools, business owner, and of course an artist. You can find me online at www.creationsbysarahjayne.com

NAVY Ship Beginnings

In May 2010 my husband’s service in the Navy was coming to an end. To commemorate his time in the service I decided to create a series of drawings and paintings of the ships he had served on and present them to him after his last Hale and Farewell. He loved the gift, and so did many of his Navy friends. It wasn’t long after that I began to receive requests for copies and paintings of new ships. It is my hope that at some point in my life I will have painted all the ships, submarines, and aviation found in the military branches of the Navy and Marines and that all the men and woman who have served our country in these branches can have the chance to enjoy a piece of artwork that commemorates their career.
